D.C. United News Release

Washington, D.C. (August 28, 2012) - D.C. United announced today that midfielder Dwayne De Rosario and defender Dejan Jakovic have both been named to the Canadian World Cup qualifying roster for a home and away matchup with Panama on September 7th in Toronto, and September 11th in Panama City. The two previously were called up for a friendly against Trinidad and Tobago on August 15th, in which Canada won by a score of 2-0. Jakovic played 90 minutes for Canada, while De Rosario did not join the team due to a sore left shoulder.

De Rosario has played 24 games for United this season (23 starts), tallying six goals and 11 assists (tied for third in the League). While with Canada, De Rosario has scored 19 goals in 69 international appearances.

Jakovic, after recovering from two early season injuries, has become a mainstay in the Black-and-Red back four - playing in 14 games with 12 starts and a goal to his name. Jakovic played the full 90 minutes in the Canadian defense that shut out Trinidad and Tobago 2-0 on August 15th.

The Black-and-Red pair will not miss any League matches and the departure dates are still to be determined.
