Idaho Falls Chukars News Release
The Idaho Falls Chukars have added RHP Sam Lewis to their active roster starting today. The 20-year-old signs with the Royals organization after his junior season at Indiana Wesleyan University and after pitching in the collegiate wood bat Prospect League.
The 6'4" 200 lbs Lewis went 4-2 with a 3.81 ERA this season for Wesleyan, striking out 63 batters and allowing just 49 hits over his 59 innings pitched.
Lewis then followed that up with an even more impressive showing with the West Virginia Miners of the Prospect League, a collegiate wood bat summer league. With the Miners, Lewis went 8-1 with a 2.70 ERA over 11 starts, including two no-hitters. The right-hander allowed just 38 hits in his 70 innings pitched and capped off his summer session with an 18-strikeout performance in game one of the league championship series.
The Chukars roster swells to 33 players with the addition of Lewis, including 17 pitchers.
