'Claws Drop First of Four at Hickory, 5-1

July 19, 2012 - South Atlantic League (SAL) Lakewood BlueClaws

HICKORY, N.C. - The BlueClaws never led in Hickory's 5-1 win over Lakewood Thursday night.

The Crawdads scored twice in the 4th inning and three more times in the 5th inning to take the ballgame.

Lakewood's lone run came in the top of the 5th inning on a bases-loaded walk by Kelly Dugan. The BlueClaws notched just four hits in the ballgame and were a combined 0-for-8 with runners in scoring position.

Starting pitcher Colin Kleven was touched for five runs in five innings including two home runs. He is now 4-7 on the season with the loss.

The BlueClaws and 'Dads will play Game 2 of a four-game series Friday night at LP Frans Stadium. Moises Rivas (1-0, 2.70) will head to the mound for his second start for the BlueClaws against Hickory's Jerad Eickhoff (10-4, 4.71) who is tied for the South Atlantic League lead in wins.
