Michael Snyder extended his hitting streak to 16 games, but the Owlz bats fell silent during a 4-1 loss to the Idaho Falls Chukars on Saturday evening.

The Owlz scored 25 runs in two games in Ogden, but being back in front of their home crowd did not seem to help their bats. It also did not help that Orem faced Sam Selman, a 2nd round pick out of Vanderbilt.

The southpaw was uncharacteristically wild, issuing three free passes, but was still able to throw five solid innings.

Selman ran into some trouble in the first, walking Sherman Johnson and Michael Bolaski and allowing a single to Snyder. However, Jonathan Walsh grounded out with the bases loaded to end the threat. Orem also left the bases loaded in the 8th inning.

Selman was on cruise control in the next four innings, finishing with one run on three hits, three walks and seven strikeouts.

The Owlz stranded 12 men on base and were 0 for 10 with runners in scoring position.

Mark Sappington started for Orem and had his second consecutive impressive showing. The 5th round pick fired three scoreless innings. However, Yancarlos Santiago and Austin Adams surrendered two runs each in their couple innings of work.

Orem will take on Idaho Falls on Sunday afternoon at 4:05 p.m. It will be Dollar Dayz at the Home of the Owlz! Come and watch your favorite team at an incredibly low price.
