San Jose Giants News Release
SAN JOSE, CA - Whether you follow ESPN on Twitter, read USA Today or picked up the Mercury News you probably heard about our local celebrity and her now famous barehanded catch! On Friday, June 15, Anne Kenyon was watching the San Jose Giants take on the Modesto Nuts at Municipal Stadium. A foul ball was hit off the bat of Modesto Nuts designated hitter Mark Tracy and came her direction in the fifth inning. The then 91 year-old and great grandmother of 15 did not duck, she stuck her hand out and caught the ball on the bounce!
San Jose Giants fans gave a warm welcome to Anne Kenyon on Friday, July 6. Kenyon returned to Municipal Stadium to prove that she cannot only catch but she can also pitch. The just turned 92 year-old grandmother brought a bus with 50 of her closest friends and family and threw out the ceremonial first pitch prior to the San Jose Giants taking on the Modesto Nuts. Mark Tracy returned to sign the baseball that had made national headlines in a pregame ceremony.
