(Manchester, NH)---Kevin Howard went 3-for-4 and John Stilson allowed one run in five innings, but the Fisher Cats saw a five-game win streak come to an end in a 4-2 loss to Portland before 7,687 on Friday night at Northeast Delta Dental Stadium.

New Hampshire (35-50) took a 2-1 lead to the top of the ninth inning, but Matt Spring ripped a game-winning three-run homer off losing pitcher Stephen Marek (1-1) as the Sea Dogs snapped a six-game losing streak.

Portland (35-52) played for a third straight night with two Boston Red Sox players in the starting line-up. Jacoby Ellsbury went 1-for-4, doubling in the top of the third inning and scoring on a single by Jackie Bradley Junior for a 1-0 lead. Ryan Sweeney went 0-for-3 in his second game for the Sea Dogs.

The Fisher Cats (36-49) rallied in the bottom of the fifth inning against Portland starter Drake Britton. Howard and Brian Bocock hit consecutive singles to start the frame and John Tolisano bunted them into scoring position. Howard scored on a single by Brian Van Kirk to tie the game and Bocock scored on a sacrifice fly by Jack Murphy to put New Hampshire in front 2-1.

New Hampshire had a chance to extend the lead in the bottom of the eighth inning, loading the bases with one out, but Caleb Clay (3-2) struck out Ryan Goins and Mark Sobolewski to end the frame. Josh Fields pitched a perfect ninth inning for his fifth save.

The Fisher Cats continue the homestand on Saturday at 7:05pm with the first of four games with the New Britain Rock Cats (Minnesota Double-A). An Atlas Fireworks Show will follow the game and fans can play USA Subs Baseball Bingo. It will also be Faith and Family Night at Northeast Delta Dental Stadium.
