LANSING, Mich. - Lansing Lugnuts starting pitcher Aaron Sanchez has been named the Midwest League's Pitcher of the Week for June 25th - July 1st.

A native of Barstow, California, Sanchez worked two separate outings of five scoreless innings during the week, striking out nine batters while allowing only five hits and two walks. He capped off the performance on Sunday, his 20th birthday, blanketing South Bend in a 6-1 Lugs win.

The touted right-hander boasts a 7-0 record in 2012, allowing just four earned runs in 57 innings for a microscopic 0.63 ERA.

Aaron Sanchez becomes the second Lugnuts pitcher in three weeks to receive the MWL honor, joining the since-promoted Jesse Hernandez (June 11-17). Lansing outfielder Kevin Pillar was previously honored as the league's Hitter of the Week for May 7-13.

Lansing plays the second game in a three-game series at South Bend at 7:35 p.m. tonight. Left-hander David Rollins (5-1, 3.10) starts for the Lugnuts opposite right-hander Tyler Green (2-4, 4.38) of the Silver Hawks.

The Lansing Lugnuts will return home on Wednesday, July 4th, for a 7:05 p.m. Independence Day affair against the Great Lakes Loons, opening a three-game series. Each game of the set will feature postgame LAFCU Fireworks. Tickets are available for purchase online at www.lansinglugnuts.com, at the stadium box office, and by calling 517-485-4500.
