PASCO, Wash. - Derek Jones lifted a sacrifice fly in the bottom of the tenth inning to score Francisco Sosa with the winning run, as the Tri-City Dust Devils defeated the Boise Hawks, 2-1, before 1,392 fans at Gesa Stadium.

Sosa reached on a one-out walk in the final frame, and after a walk to Patrick Hutcheson, moved to third on a wild pitch by Rafael Diplan. After Miguel DeLeon was intentionally walked to load the bases, Jones lifted a 1-2 pitch to deep centerfield, easily scoring Sosa with the winner.

The Dust Devils scored on a similar play in the fifth to take a 1-0 lead, as Sosa lifted a sacrifice fly to center with the bases loaded to score Anthony Aguilera. The Hawks would answer with one swing, as Dong-Yub Kim golfed a solo homer to left field with two outs in the seventh to tie the score.

Seth Willoughby got the win in relief for Tri-City, scoring a scoreless tenth. Starter Josh Slaats allowed just six hits in seven innings of work in a no-decision, striking out six. Sosa went 2-for-3 - the lone Dust Devil to record a multi-hit game.

James Pugliese was solid for the Hawks, throwing four innings of two-hit ball, fanning a career-high five. Chadd Krist went 3-for-3 in the loss, with Kim and Jeimer Candelario each adding two hits, as Boise outhit Tri-City, 9-7.

Game 2 of the series is tomorrow night at 8:15 p.m. (MT), with Tayler Scott meeting Ben Hughes.

NOTES: Diplan saw his scoreless inning streak ended at 11 2/3 with the run in the tenth inning...Michael Heesch made his Boise debut and tossed two shutout innings, striking out one...Eddie Orozco worked two perfect innings of relief...after a pair of pinch hit at bats in the ninth, Candelario moved to first base for the final two innings...the Hawks announced a roster move prior to the game, as Gregori Gonzalez was sent to the Mesa Cubs in the Arizona League.
