Tucson Padres News Release

The Tucson Padres were not able to seal their first series sweep of 2012, falling to the Colorado Springs Sky Sox 9-3 on Friday at Kino Stadium. Matt Lollis suffered the loss, allowing five earned runs in 3.2 innings of work in his second Triple-A start. Sky Sox starter Carlos Torres surrendered a two-run home run to Jedd Gyorko in the first inning, one of only three hits he allowed in six innings. Torres got the win, striking out six Padres in the process.

The Sky Sox scored three times in the first inning, with the first two runs coming on back-to-back solo home runs by Tommy Field and Andrew Brown. Three batters later, Tucson shortstop Beamer Weems overthrew first baseman Matt Clark, allowing Brendan Harris to score. The Sky Sox added three runs in the third, one in the seventh and two more in the eighth against Padres' pitching.

The Padres season-high, five-game winning streak came to a close with the loss. The T-Pads longest winning streak in team history is eight, set in late June into early July of 2011. Weems and Anthony Contreras each had 11-game hitting streaks end Friday.
