Colorado Springs Sky Sox News Release
COLORADO SPRINGS, CO - The Sky Sox return home for a five game home stand against the Reno Aces for our Spectacular Independence Week, July 4th through July 8th! While a city wide ban on all fireworks including commercial shows has prompted us to not shoot our regularly scheduled fireworks shows, your Sky Sox have gone out and made the entertainment even bigger and better. We have reached out to the best entertainers in all of sports and have loaded the Independence Week with National Performing Acts; The World Famous Zooperstars (seen on America's Got Talent and ESPN) Amazing Christopher performing as The Village People and the hilarious BirdZerk.
The entertainment extravaganza scheduled is as follows:
July 4th: For an "All-Star line-up" of talent on July 4th, the Sky Sox have brought in BirdZerk along with Amazing Christopher as The Village People. BirdZerk, along with his various sidekicks make for an exciting and fun family experience with one of the most entertaining mascots in the country! To add to the fun, Amazing Christopher returns to Security Service Field as The Village People. A one man show, Christopher and his rig of four life-sized puppets comprise The Village People, all controlled by Christopher himself! The Sky Sox will also have a spectacular patriotic themed post-game performance from the eighteen-piece United States Air Force Academy Band, the Falconaires! The Sky Sox are also partnering with 103.9 RXP to raise money for the Waldo Canyon Firefighters Fund. RXP will be accepting cash donations at their truck by the front gates, while the Sky Sox will be donating all funds raised in the lucky ball toss competition!
July 5th and July 6th: The Sky Sox have recruited The World Famous Zooperstars to entertain between innings throughout the game. The Zooperstars are giant inflatable characters that have fun with some of the biggest names in sports when making their characters. You never know if you'll see "Shark McGuire," "Clammy Sosa," "Harry Canary," "Ken Giraffey Jr.," or a host of other hilarious characters! We'll see who shows up at the ballpark, but all are sure to entertain!
July 7th : Saturday Night is our annual Used Car Night. Twelve Used Cars will be given away throughout the game as well as twelve $100 cash winners.
July 8th : It's the Family Favorite 50-Cent Hotdogs. You can also sign your child up to be a part of the Sky Sox Youth Baseball Clinic or Sky Sox Kids Club and run the bases after the game.
Due to the events of the last week, and the devastation caused by the Waldo Canyon Fire, the Sky Sox would like to offer free tickets to those home owners who lost their homes in the fire to any of the following games: July 5th, July 6th, July 7th, or July 8th. Simply come up to the box office and identify yourself as one of the affected families to receive your free tickets. Also, all funds from the lucky ball toss during this home stand will be donated to relief efforts.
All game times are 7:05 except for Saturday 6:05 and Sunday 1:05.
