Three Rock Cats Named to EL All-Star Team

New Britain, CT- The New Britain Rock Cats Baseball Club, the Double-A Eastern League Affiliate of the Minnesota Twins, had three players selected to the 2012 Eastern League All-Star Team. LHP Andrew Albers, RHP B.J Hermsen and C Chris Herrmann were chosen to play for the Eastern Division in the Baseballtown All-Star Classic at First Energy Stadium in Reading, Pennsylvania on Wednesday, July 11 at 7:05 PM. The Eastern and Western Division rosters are each comprised of 24 players with at least three from each club.

One position player and one pitcher were selected through online and stadium balloting and the remaining roster spots were then filled through voting by Eastern League media, managers and officials. The Eastern Division consists of players from the Twins, Red Sox, Yankees, Mets, Phillies and Blue Jays organizations. The Western Division consists of players from the Indians, Nationals, Tigers, Orioles, Giants and Pirates organizations.

Albers, Hermsen and Herrmann were instrumental in helping the Rock Cats get off to the best start in franchise history. New Britain was 11 games above .500 on June 1, the first time since June 14, 2001. On May 22, Rock Cats improved to 10 games above .500 (27-17) for the first time ever in the month of May. The previous quickest time the Twins' affiliate reached 10 games over .500 was June 2, 1998. In addition, the Rock Cats were in first place from May 18 until June 5 and enter tonight's game just 2 games out.
