CHICAGO, Ill. (June 26, 2012) - The Chicago Fire Soccer Club announced Tuesday that the club has waived Zimbabwean forward Kheli Dube.
"We want to thank Kheli for his time with the Chicago Fire and wish him well in his next venture," said Fire Head Coach Frank Klopas.
Dube was the Fire's only selection in the 2011 MLS Re-Entry Draft. He began his professional career when he was selected eight overall by the New England Revolution in the 2008 MLS Supplemental Draft. The former Zimbabwean youth international made 21 regular season appearances and helped the Revs to the 2008 SuperLiga title, and was one of three finalists for MLS Gatorade Rookie of the Year.
Dube did not appear in a competitive match for the Men in Red.
