Floethe, Hot Rods blank Lugnuts, 3-0

June 8, 2012 - Midwest League (MWL) Lansing Lugnuts

LANSING, Mich. - The Lansing Lugnuts (41-19) were shut out by Jake Floethe and Jason McEachern in a 3-0 loss to the Bowling Green Hot Rods (33-28) on Friday night on Jackson Field.

The Hot Rods handed the Lugnuts their first home series loss of the season, keeping Lansing's magic number to clinch the first-half Eastern Division title at one.

The Lugnuts scored just one unearned run in the final 18 innings of the three-game series.

Hot Rods' starter Floethe (Win, 6-1) tossed a career-high-tying seven scoreless innings in which he allowed just five hits and two walks while striking out four.

The Lugnuts had a number of offensive chances but stranded runners in scoring position in the first, third, fourth and seventh innings.

Jeff Malm smacked an RBI double and scored when Todd Glaesmann delivered an RBI single against Noah Syndergaard (Loss, 3-2), who surrendered three unearned runs in the third inning. The righty exited after 2 2/3 innings, allowing three hits, one walk and striking out two.

The Lugnuts bullpen threw 7 1/3 scoreless innings, including 3 1/3 frames from Anthony DeSclafani, who struck out six while walking a career-high three batters.

The Lugnuts open a three-game series against the Lake County Captains on Saturday, June 9th 7:05 p.m. Lefty David Rollins (4-0, 3.00) will start for Lansing opposite Captains southpaw Elvis Araujo (2-4, 3.02).
