
Details Set for D.C. United-Philadelphia Union U.S. Open Cup Game

Washington, D.C. (May 29, 2012) - With its 2-1 win over the Richmond Kickers tonight, D.C. United announced details for its U.S. Open Cup round-of-16 matchup against the Philadelphia Union. The Black-and-Red will play host to the Union on Tuesday, June 5 at the Maryland SoccerPlex in Boyds, Md. Kickoff is set for 7:30pm.
Tickets will go on sale tomorrow, May 30, via the D.C. United front office at 202-587-5000. All tickets will be $15 each in advance, $20 each at the gate, and seating will be general admission.
The Philadelphia Union played host to USL PRO side, the Rochester Raging Rhinos, tonight at PPL Park and won by a score of 3-0. United has twice won the U.S. Open Cup, in 1996 and again in 2008. Last year, D.C. United beat the Philadelphia Union before falling to New England in Open Cup play.
The U.S. Open Cup has crowned a champion for 98 consecutive years beginning in 1914, with D.C. United twice winning the title (1996, 2008). Open to amateur and professional sides alike, this year's tournament includes a 64-team field - the most in the modern era (1995-present).
