THE RUMOR MILL SAYS...: The Rochester Red Wings tonight play the 2nd game of their 4-game series at Charlotte, making their lone regular-season visit to the home of the Chicago White Sox's top farm club. The trip started by losing 3 of 4 at Gwinnett (Braves) and falling in yesterday's patriotic Memorial Day series opener 4-1. The Red Wings return home on Friday for an 8-game homestand that includes a pair of 4-game series with Columbus (Indians) and Norfolk (Orioles).

BASEBALL MONTH IN ROCHESTER: The Red Wings and Monroe County have proclaimed May as "Baseball Month in Rochester." Frontier Field is hosting games on 26 of the 31 days in the month, as the Empire State Yankees share the downtown ballpark with the Red Wings. Today in Rochester for the Toledo Mud Hens-Empire State Yankees game:

ON THE BLACKBURNER: Twins righthander Nick Blackburn today makes a rehabilitation start for the Red Wings at Charlotte. The 30-year-old was placed on the 15-Day Disabled List May 17 with a strained left quadriceps. He went 1-4 with an 8.37 ERA in 7 starts with the Twins before the injury.

a Blackburn is the 12th different starting pitcher used by the Red Wings. Only Norfolk (Orioles) has used more in the IL with 13, but Indianapolis (Pirates) has also used 12. Lehigh Valley (Phillies) has used the fewest starters in the league with 6.

a Blackburn pitched for the Wings for parts of 3 seasons in 2005, 2007, and 2010.

CALLING ALL STARS: Online voting for the 2012 Triple-A All-Star Game is underway. The game, featuring the International League and the Pacific Coast League, will be played July 11 at Buffalo's Coca-Cola Field.
