Winnipeg Blue Bombers News Release
WINNIPEG, MB - The Winnipeg Blue Bombers, in conjunction with Manitoba Lotteries, is pleased to announce the first grand prize winners of the team's Scratch Lottery Program.
Glowacki made the pass to Stratychuk, and he went all the way - to the first Top Prize in the Winnipeg Blue Bombers Scratch Lottery!
Tracy Glowacki picked up a couple of Blue Bomber Scratch tickets at the Health Sciences Lottery Kiosk, to slip into a birthday bag for her partner, Mike Stratychuk. Since Mike and Tracy are both huge fans of the Winnipeg Blue Bombers Football Team, it seemed a natural choice.
"Mike received two Bomber tickets in his "birthday bag"," Tracy said. "He scratched the first one and it wasn't a winner."
After his birthday dinner, Mike scratched the second ticket and could hardly believe what he was seeing. Mike and Tracy decided to go immediately to a nearby lottery retailer to have the ticket checked.
"We went up to the counter, and the guy scanned the ticket and it said 'Woo-hoo'! We won $100,000! I almost had a heart attack," Mike laughed.
Tracy laughed along with him. "I was in shock. As soon as we got into the truck I started screaming and kicking the floor!"
Mike and Tracy are the first big winners in the first SCRATCH'N WIN lottery in Canadian Football League history. There is still another $100,000 prize waiting for another lucky winner, and more than 200,000 other cash prizes remaining. There are also chances to win incredible Blue Bombers experiential prizes including a 10-year Winnipeg Blue Bombers season ticket package and an Ultimate Road Trip with the team. The experiential prizes are available to players who register and enter their tickets in an Internet Contest available at wclc.com.
Mike and Tracy have already bought their season tickets for the Bombers 2012-13 season. And as for the rest of their winnings?
"I'm going to buy a new truck," said Mike, while Tracy added firmly, "And the rest is going into savings."
"But the best part of this was when we heard that the Bombers wanted to see us!" Mike grinned.
