Rock Cats Top Mets to Take Series

New Britain, CT- The Rock Cats beat the Binghamton Mets Thursday afternoon 6-4 in front of a sellout, 7,117 at New Britain Stadium. The Cats' ripped a pair of 2-run home runs by Matt Rizzotti and Deibinson Romero as they won three out of four from the Mets this week. LHP Caleb Theilbar pitched two scoreless innings in relief for his second Eastern League win.

The Rock Cats began the scoring in the first inning, getting three runs off Jenrry Mejia, who pitched for the New York Mets in 2010. Chris Herrmann continued his impressive homestand (9-15) with an RBI single followed by a 2-run home run by Rizzotti. New Britain would stretch its lead to 4-1 on an RBI double by Chris Colabello in the third inning.

The Mets tied the game in the 7th on a one-out solo home run by Matt Den Dekker. The Rock Cats broke the 4-4 tie when Romero hit a Gonzalez Hermen pitch over the left field fence for his 4th home run of the season.

The Rock Cats begin a 7-game road trip tomorrow night in Portland, Maine. LHP Andrew Albers starts for New Britain against RHP Chris Balcom-Miller for the Sea Dogs. The game can be heard on WMRD AM 1150 and WLIS AM 1420 and online at www.foxsportsradio1410.com.
