
Bullpen Shines in Loss to Captains

SOUTH BEND, IN - The Lake County Captains scored four runs in the fifth inning Friday and beat the
South Bend Silver Hawks 4-2 in front of 3,901 fans at Coveleski Stadium. The Silver Hawks dropped two
of three against the Captains and are 7.5 games behind first place Lansing and one game back of second
place Bowling Green.
J.R. Bradley (2-4) got hit with the loss for South Bend, allowing four runs - three earned - on four hits over
4.2 innings. The right-hander struck out two and walked a career-high five batters. Elvis Araujo (1-4)
earned his first win for Lake County, surrendering just one earned run on five hits over six innings. Araujo
struck out six and walked just one.
Todd Hankins hit a bases-clearing triple in the fourth inning to give the Captains the lead. Eight total men
came to the plate in the inning as Lake County scored four runs on three walks and just one hit in the
inning.
The Silver Hawks bullpen turned in 4.1 scoreless innings and has gone its last 13.2 innings without
allowing a run. Seth Simmons recorded the final out of the fifth inning and worked a scoreless sixth
inning. Blake Perry struck out four over three scoreless innings in his Silver Hawks debut.
Chris Ellison and Josh Parr each recorded two hits for the Silver Hawks. Ellison lined an RBI base hit down
the left field line in the sixth inning while Parr scored on a wild pitch in the eighth inning.
Ender Inciarte started the sixth inning with a triple and scored on Ellison's hit. Inciarte is now in sole
possession of third on the Silver Hawks all-time triples list with 16.
The Silver Hawks hit the road Saturday to begin a three-game series with the West Michigan Whitecaps.
First pitch from Fifth Third Park in Comstock Park, Mich., is set for 7:00 p.m. EST. Right-hander Archie
Bradley (5-1, 2.25) starts for South Bend and he will be opposed by right-hander Tommy Collier (2-2,
1.57). The Silver Hawks return home on Wednesday, May 23, to take on the Fort Wayne TinCaps. Tickets
