Barons Fall to Biscuits in 10th 8-5

Birmingham, AL - The Montgomery Biscuits scored three runs in the 10th inning Wednesday night to defeat the Birmingham Barons 8-5 in front of 1,408 fans at Regions Park.

The Barons would trail by scores of 4-1 and 5-2 before coming back to tie the game at 5-5. With the Biscuits leading 5-2 in the fifth, Seth Loman continued his recent hot hitting, roping a double to right to score two. Jared Mitchell would tie the game at 5-5 in the seventh with an RBI single, one of three hits on the night as he finished 3-for-4 with a run scored and two RBI.

The game would remain knotted until the tenth as the Biscuits scored three runs RBI singles by Brad Coon, Mark Thomas and Ty Morrison to take an 8-5 lead they would not relinquish.

Barons' starter Simon Castro allowed five runs (four earned) on eight hits in 6.0 innings while striking out eight and taking a no-decision.

Leroy Hunt (0-1,10.13) took the loss allowing all three runs in the 10th on four hits. The win went to Biscuits reliever Marquise Flemming who tossed 2.0 scoreless innings.

Tyler Saladino reached base twice via walk (36) on the night while also stealing a base (16) and scoring a run (29). Saladino leads the Southern League in all three categories.

The Barons will look to snap a two-game losing streak tomorrow night as Cameron Bayne (3-2, 4.95) takes the hill against Matt Buschmann (1-1, 5.02). First pitch is scheduled for 7:05 PM CDT.
