Chris Dwyer Named Texas League Pitcher of the Week

SPRINGDALE, AR- Naturals' left-hander Chris Dwyer has been selected as the Texas League Pitcher of the Week for the period of May 7-13, Texas League President Tom Kayser announced Monday.

Dwyer made one start in that period against the Springfield Cardinals on May 10. He combined with Greg Holland, Brendan Lafferty, and Kendal Volz to throw the second no-hitter in franchise history. Dwyer went six and two thirds innings without allowing a hit. He did walk two and hit a batter, but also fanned five.

The former Clemson Tiger has gone 2-4 with a 5.91 ERA and has fanned 27 in 32.0 innings of work. Dwyer entered the season ranked by Baseball America as the number nine prospect in the Royals system.

Cody Decker of the San Antonio Missions was named as the Player of the Week for the Texas League for the second consecutive week.

Dwyer becomes the second Natural to be named Pitcher of the week this season joining Jake Odorizzi who was last week's pitcher of the week. Wil Myers was also named the Texas League Player of the week for April 23-29.
