Omaha Storm Chasers News Release

Fresno, CA - Eric Hacker worked seven strong innings and was backed by a Tyler LaTorre home run as Fresno rebounded from Saturday's drubbing to down Omaha, 7-1, Sunday afternoon in the second of a four-game set at Chukchansi Park. The Storm Chasers dropped to 24-14 overall and 2-4 on their current eight-game road trip after being held to a season-low four hits.

Fresno strung together four consecutive two-out singles in the second inning, the last two by Justin Christian and Nick Noonan driving in runs, to forge a 2-0 lead against Louis Coleman, who was making his first start of the season. The side-winding right-hander was saddled with the loss after he allowed five hits, walked one and struck out a pair over two frames.

Sean O'Sullivan took over in the third and surrendered four runs, three coming on LaTorre's first long ball of the season, that extended the Fresno advantage to 6-0. The southern California native then kept the hosts off the board in the fourth through sixth innings before he uncorked a wild pitch that allowed a run to score in the seventh.

The Storm Chasers couldn't score after putting runners at second and third with one out in the sixth but they did manage to push across their only run in the seventh when David Lough singled, stole second base, moved to third on a fly ball out and came plateward on a Kurt Mertins ground out.

Hacker improved to 6-1 after permitting just three hits, walking three and fanning six. George Kontos tossed two scoreless innings to finish off the win that moved Fresno back into first place in the Pacific Conference South.

The series resumes Monday night with Omaha left-hander Ryan Verdugo making the start against his former organization and Fresno right-hander Andrew Kown. Coverage of the game gets underway at 8:45 pm and can be heard locally on AM 1180 and online at omahastormchasers.com.
