
Suns Announce Benefit Game to Support the Mitchell Akers Leopard Spirit Memorial Scholarship Fund

Hagerstown, MD - The Hagerstown Suns, Single-A affiliate of the Washington Nationals, today announce the dedication of their 2012 South Atlantic League season in the memory of Mitchell Akers. Please join the Suns on Friday, June 1, as Suns players and coaches will be wearing a patch bearing his initials on their home uniforms.
The Suns will donate $5 from every ticket sold for the game to the Mitchell Akers Leopard Spirit Memorial Scholarship Fund. In addition, representatives from the scholarship fund will be collecting donations throughout the game.
The June 1 benefit will be the first of five scholarship drives the Suns have planned over the next five Suns seasons to remember one of our own, Mitchell Akers.
