Lexington Legends News Release

(GREENVILLE, S.C.) The Greenville Drive broke a 2-2 tie with three runs in the bottom of the seventh inning and went on to defeat the Lexington Legends 5-3 Thursday night in Greenville.

The Legends scored in the top of the first inning. Delino DeShields Jr. led off with a single. He moved to second as Jordan Scott reached first when Scott's sacrifice bunt got past Greenville starter Mickey Pena for an error. The Legends tried a double steal, but Scott was thrown out at second as DeShields took third. DeShields later scored as third baseman Garin Cecchini committed an error on a ground ball hit by Zach Johnson.

The Drive evened the score in the second on a solo homer by Henry Ramos, his first home run of the season.

The Legends took the lead in the fourth on back-to-back doubles by Matt Duffy and Mike Kvasnicka, but the Drive came back to tie it in the fifth on singles by Ramos and Lucas LeBlanc and a double by Bryan Johns.

The score remained 2-2 until the bottom of the seventh. Johns drew a leadoff walk against Legends reliever Euris Quezada. Johns advanced to second on a balk and went to third on a fly to right field by Blake Swihart. Cecchini's double brought Johns home with the tie-breaking run, and Cecchini came home on a single by David Renfroe. A single by Keury De La Cruz sent Renfroe to third, and he scored as Cody Koback grounded into a force play at second.

The Legends scored a run in the top of the ninth on Duffy's third double of the game, a ground out by Kvasnicka and a sacrifice fly by Brandon Meredith.

Matty Ott (3-1), who entered the game in the seventh inning, picked up the win. Quezada (0-1) took the loss in his first appearance as a Legend since being called up from spring training earlier this week.

Each team has won one game in the series, which concludes with a 7:05 p.m. game Friday.
