Winnipeg Blue Bombers News Release

The Winnipeg Blue Bombers announced today that due to delays in the opening of Investors Group Field, the new state-of-the-art home of the team will now open on Friday, September 21 against the Hamilton Tiger-Cats, with a plan to play the Manitoba Lotteries Banjo Bowl against the Saskatchewan Roughriders on September 9th at Investors Group Field if the facility is available.

"Over the course of the past couple of months, we have been continuously monitoring, very closely, the construction progress of our new home," said President and CEO Garth Buchko. "Our project managers gave us a crucial date of May 1st in which we would know exactly where we stood, and it became apparent that unfortunately we would not be able to hit our target for this date. As a result, we will play our first five regular season home games at Canad Inns Stadium."

Investors Group Field is all about the fan experience. With two of the largest video display boards in Canada, 100% more leg room, wider seats and 50% more washrooms and concessions - the home of your Winnipeg Blue Bombers will be something we will all be proud of.

The team also announced that season ticket holders who purchased seats at Investors Group Field will regain their seat from 2011 at Canad Inns Stadium up to the number of seats that were renewed in 2012 and will pay 2011 prices for those games. All season ticket holders will have their account credited the difference in prices.

"As an organization, although it is disappointing for everyone involved, including our devoted fans, we know that when this is completed, we will have one of the premier sports and entertainment venues in our country and something that will make our fans very proud," said Buchko. "This is ultimately about the fans and fan experience. We have long maintained that we will not open Investors Group Field until we are certain the very best fan experience will be offered. We're extremely confident that although the delay is a temporary misfortune this extraordinary building will be worth the wait."

Renewed season ticket holders can purchase additional tickets from May 4-18. Fans on the season ticket wait list will have an opportunity to purchase season tickets from May 22-26 (subject to availability). Season tickets will go on sale to the general public on May 28, with single game seats available on June 8.
