
Zephyrs Settle for Split with 5-2 Loss to Isotopes

Stephen Fife allowed two hits over six scoreless innings leading the Albuquerque Isotopes to a 5-2 win over the New Orleans Zephyrs on Sunday at Zephyr Field for a split of the four-game series.
Zephyrs starter Wade LeBlanc held the Isotopes hitless until the fifth inning when Luis Cruz singled to right-center, followed by an RBI double to right field by Jerry Sands to put Albuquerque on the board first.
The floodgates opened for Albuquerque from that point. In the sixth, Trent Oeltjen singled to left-center scoring Elian Herrera and Scott Van Slyke scored Oeltjen with a sacrifice fly. Tim Federowics doubled to left field scoring Sands with one out, followed by another sacrifice fly off the bat of Jeff Baisley to plate Federowicz.
The Zephyrs got on the board n the bottom of the seventh when Matt Dominguez singled up the middle and Chris Aguila followed suit, singling through the hole at shortstop. With two outs Jake Jefferies doubled to right field, scoring both runners, for his first career Triple-A hit.
Leblanc (1-2) recorded his second loss for the Zephyrs. He gave up five runs off seven hits and struck out six batters over seven innings. Fife (2-2) earned the win for Albuquerque.
New Orleans will travel to Round Rock for a four game series beginning on Monday at 7:05pm. Righty Tom Koehler (0-3) will start on the slab for the Zephyrs, and southpaw Zach Jackson (1-2) will take the mound for the Express.
