Tucson Padres News Release

The Tucson Padres have their first winning streak of 2012 after coming back to beat the Sacramento River Cats 6-4 Saturday night at Raley Field. The Padres had two outs and no baserunners in the sixth inning when they exploded for five runs on six hits. Vince Belnome's three-run double was the key hit in the inning and put the Padres in front to stay. Jorge Reyes picked up his first Triple-A win, pitching five innings and allowing four earned runs.

Sacramento scored once in the third inning on a solo home run by Stephen Parker and added two in the fifth on Josh Donaldson's home run and Brandon Hicks' RBI double. The River Cats led the Padres 3-0 before Tucson's five-run sixth inning. Tucson's Anthony Contreras hit a home run in the top of the ninth to add an insurance run before Brad Brach's first Pacific Coast League save of 2012.

The Padres bullpen threw four shutout innings Saturday and at one point struck our five batters in a row. Tucson pitchers combined to strike out 11 hitters. Everth Cabrera was 2-for-3 in the win and stole second base in the first inning, his fifth steal in the last two games.
