
Spirit Defeat Knights 5-2; Tie Series at 1-1

Tonight at The Dow Event Center, the Spirit traveled back home to take on the London Knights in round two, game two of the series. On this Easter day, the Spirit would defeat the Knights by a score of 5-2. Scoring for Spirit was spread out amongst four players: Vincent Trocheck, Garret Ross, Brandon Archibald and Brandon Saad.
The scoreless first period would be an even match amongst the two teams. These two teams would play a tough playoff period. The Spirit would have 8 shots while London would have 10 shots at the end of the period.
10:48 in the second period, Vincent Trocheck would skate in front of the net and land himself a power play goal on London's goalie Michael Houser. Brandon Saad and Josh Shalla would assist the goal. Trocheck's goal would not be enough to stop the Knights. 15:04 in the period, Austin Watson would slide one past Spirit goalie, Jake Paterson to tie the game 1-1. The Spirit would get the goal back when at 19:15 of the period, the puck would come off the stick of Garret Ross to regain the lead 2-1. Vincent Trocheck would get credit for the assist. The period would come to a closure with the Spirit up by one goal.
At the 4:57 mark in the third period, Greg McKegg would snipe a goal to tie the game 2-2. Olli Maatta and Seth Griffith would get credit for the assist. Seconds later Brandon Archibald would skate right in front of the net and notch a goal of his own to make the score 3-2. Ross would get credit for the assist. With the adrenaline rushing, Brandon Saad would score a power play goal to give the Spirit a two goal advantage over the Knights.. Trocheck would assist Saad's goal. Saad would score his second of the period in the dying minutes of the game to give the Spirit a 5-2 lead and they would hold on to win by that margin. Jake Paterson made 20 saves in net for the Spirit.
