Edmonton Oil Kings News Release
Edmonton, AB - The Edmonton Oil Kings continued their remarkable streak with a 4-3 win on Saturday over the Brandon Wheat Kings in Game 2 of their Eastern Conference Semi Final series. With the win the Oil Kings take a 2-0 lead in the best of seven series and extend their current winning streak to 17 games.
Edmonton Oilers Draft pick Kristians Pelss led the charge for the Oil Kings who fell behind 1-0 early in the first. Pelss tallied to tie the game 1-1 in the second period before Brandon regained the lead just 30 seconds later. Pelss then scored his second of the night to spark the Oil Kings to three unanswered goals. Brandon would pull within one with less than a second remaining in the second frame but the Oil Kings would hold on for a 4-3 win.
Fellow Oilers draft pick Travis Ewanyk and 20 year old Jordan Peddle notched the other Oil Kings goals. Edmonton's penalty kill has allowed only 1 power play goal in the 2012 Playoffs. The Oil Kings held the Wheat Kings to 0 for 3 on the night and currently rank first in the WHL playoffs at 94.7%.
