Blue Bombers Sign Pair of Defensive Linemen

WINNIPEG, MB - The Winnipeg Blue Bombers have announced today the signings of a pair of defensive linemen, non-import Ryan Lucas and import Brandon Collier.

Lucas (6-5, 280, Western Washington, DOB: October 23, 1984 in Vancouver, British Columbia) began last season on the Saskatchewan Roughriders' practice roster before being claimed by the Montreal Alouettes in July where he appeared in three games, registering one tackle. Since beginning his CFL career in 2007 with Montreal, Lucas has appeared in eight games and has registered two defensive tackles and one fumble recovery. He also played in both the West Semi-Final and West Final with the Roughriders in 2010, along with the 98th Grey Cup, registering two defensive tackles and one tackle for loss during the playoffs. Lucas spent three seasons at Western Washington and recorded 11 tackles and one sack as a senior.

Collier (6-1, 285, Massachusetts, DOB: September 27, 1985 in Cleveland, Ohio) played in 49 career games at UMass, including 43 starts at defensive tackle. He was named an All-CAA Third Team Defensive Lineman as a senior after registering 38 tackles, 3.5 sacks, eight tackles for loss, one forced fumble and one fumble recovery. A four-year starter, Collier finished his career with 188 total tackles, 12 sacks and 23.5 tackles for loss. He signed as an undrafted free agent with the Philadelphia Eagles last summer before being released during training camp after suffering an injury.
