Harrison Signs AHL Tryout with Lake Erie

EVERETT - Silvertips forward Ryan Harrison became the fourth Everett player in the past week to catch on with a professional team when he signed an amateur tryout agreement with the Lake Erie Monsters of the American Hockey League, the team announced today. Harrison recently arrived in Cleveland, Ohio to join the Monsters, who are the top affiliate of the NHL's Colorado Avalanche.

Harrison, 20, completed his fourth WHL season and first full campaign with the Silvertips last week. The Kelowna, British Columbia native ranked second on the club in scoring with 52 points in 70 games played this year. He led the team in assists (32), while ranking second in goals (20) and plus/minus rating (+5), fourth in penalty minutes (103), and tying for the team lead with four game-winning goals. Harrison, who attended training camp with the Vancouver Canucks prior to the season, played for Prince Albert and Medicine Hat before being acquired by the Silvertips at the WHL trading deadline in January 2011. He has totaled 193 points (69g/124a) and 453 penalty minutes in 274 career games.

The Monsters are currently battling for position in a tight AHL Western Conference playoff race with four regular season games remaining. Lake Erie is tied with Peoria for the conference's eighth and final playoff spot heading into a weekend set with Kent Simpson and the Rockford IceHogs, who also feature former Silvertips Byron Froese and Kyle Beach.
