Gemel Smith Named Becker Shoes Attacker of the Week

The Owen Sound Attack has named forward Gemel Smith the Becker Shoes Attacker of the Week for the Week ending Sunday, March 11th, 2012.

Smith started the week off on a strong note last Wednesday evening, scoring his 21st goal of the season en route to being named the games 2nd Star on home ice against Barrie.

On Friday, Smith and the Attack travelled to Saginaw, their first of three games in two and a half days. Smith was once again on the mark, collecting 3 assists in a 4-3 Attack win while being named the games 1st Star.

After being held pointless in Sarnia on Saturday, Smith found the score sheet on Sunday, picking up as assist on Jay Gilbert's 10th goal of the season.

Smith finished the week with 1 goal and 4 assists and a +1 rating. The highly ranked prospect for the 2012 NHL Entry Draft now has 21 goals on the season to go along with 39 assists and a +15 rating.

The Attack is back in action on home ice this Saturday when they play host to the Guelph Storm for the last regular season home game. Fans are reminded of the St. Patrick's Day Party in the Bay Room, immediately following the game. Tickets for the Dance are still available at the Attack Box Office for just $10.00, $5.00 of which goes directly to Colo-Rectal Cancer Research.
