Hurricanes Reassign Boychuk to Charlotte

RALEIGH, NC - Jim Rutherford, President and General Manager of the National Hockey League's Carolina Hurricanes, today announced that the team has reassigned forward Zach Boychuk to the Charlotte Checkers of the American Hockey League (AHL).

This concludes the second NHL recall of the season for Boychuk, 22, who has totaled two assists in 16 games with the Hurricanes this season. The Airdrie, Alb., native ranks second among Charlotte skaters in goals (14) and third in points (32), skating in 45 games on the AHL level this season. Drafted by the Hurricanes in the first round, 14th overall, in the 2008 NHL Entry Draft, Boychuk has totaled seven goals and 11 assists (18 points) in 72 career NHL games with Carolina, and 134 points (51g, 83a) in 159 career AHL games with Albany and Charlotte.

The Carolina Hurricanes take on the Washington Capitals on Tuesday (7 p.m., FOX Sports Carolinas HD, Hurricanes Radio Network) in the first game of a five-game road swing.
