Everett - The Everett Silvertips defeated the Seattle Thunderbirds 4-0 Friday night at Comcast Arena in Everett.

Everett (18-37-1-8) jumped over the T-Birds in the Western Conference Playoff standings with the win and is now in eighth place. Seattle (21-40-1-1) is in ninth place, one point behind the Silvertips. Everett is one point behind the seventh place Victoria Royals while the T-Birds are two points behind the Royals. The Prince George Cougars are in 10th place, four points behind the T-Birds.

The T-Birds travel to Portland to take on the Winterhawks on Saturday afternoon at 3 pm at Memorial Coliseum.

Everett opened the scoring at 9:54 of the first period on a goal from Josh Winquist. Reid Petryk had the only assist on the goal.

The Silvertips outshot the T-Birds 11-5 in the first period.

Josh Birkholz scored an unassisted shorthanded goal at 2:04 of the second period to give Everett a 2-0 lead.

The Silvertips went in front 3-0 at 16:00 of second on a goal from Petryk. Josh Birkholz had the only assist on the goal.

Ryan Murray scored a power-play goal at 19:00 of the second to give the Silvertips a 4-0 lead. Ryan Harrison and Kohl Bauml had the assists.

Everett outshot the T-Birds 13-10 in the second period and led 24-15 in total shots after two periods.

The T-Birds outshot the Silvertips 10-6 in the third period but Everett finished with a 30-25 advantage in total shots.

Seattle goalie Calvin Pickard stopped 26 of 30 shots and his record is now 21-32-1-1.

Everett goalie Kent Simpson made 25 saves to get the shutout and his record is now 16-29-1-5.
