Weekly Update: Rapids Face Yokohama FC on Thursday in Hawaiian

RAPIDS TRAVEL TO HAWAI'I FOR INTERNATIONAL INVITATIONAL: The Colorado Rapids continue their preseason regimen in Hawai'i as they prepare for the Hawaiian Islands Invitational, to take place later this week in Honolulu. The Rapids will train Monday through Wednesday, and play their first match against Yokohama FC of Japan on Thursday, Feb. 23 at Aloha Stadium. Two days later, they will face either Busan I'Park (Korea) or Melbourne Heart FC (Australia) before returning to Denver on Sunday. The matches will be aired live on ESPN International and ESPN3. HEAD COACH OSCAR PAREJA ADDS MARTIN RIVERO TO ROSTER: The Colorado Rapids acquired Argentinian midfielder MartÃ-n Rivero on loan on Thursday last week. Rivero, a 22-year-old attacking midfielder, was most recently with Rosario Central in Argentina where he established himself as a starter throughout the first half of the 2011-12 season before joining the Rapids. The Rapids have also added Arsenal reserve George Brislen-Hall and Colombian midfielder Andres "Michi" Sarmiento to training camp for a trial period. RAPIDS HOST 2012 KICKOFF LUNCHEON ON WEDNESDAY, MARCH 7: This year, the Colorado Rapids will host their annual Kickoff Luncheon on Wednesday, March 7 from 11:30 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. at the Denver Marriott City Center. The event, from which proceeds will benefit Kroenke Sports Charities, offers fans the opportunity to meet the team and hear from club executives and Head Coach Oscar Pareja. Interested fans can purchase a table for $1,000 (nine guests and one Rapids player or coach) or an individual ticket for $100. PRESEASON MATCHES PREPARE THE RAPIDS FOR 2012 CAMPAIGN: The Rapids will play their last preparatory matches of the 2012 preseason this week in the Hawaiian Islands Invitational. After two matches on Thursday and Saturday, the Rapids will return to Denver for two final weeks of training before kicking off the 2012 season against Columbus Crew on March 10 at Dick's Sporting Goods Park.
