Guelph Storm News Release
The Storm traveled to Ottawa Friday night to take on the East Division leading Ottawa 67's. Four different Storm players had goals in the 5-4 victory over the home team. Scott Kosmachuk and Patrick Watling scored early in the first period to take a quick 2-0 lead. Tyler Toffoli answered back for the 67's at 9:37, shorthanded. Francis Menard would score on the powerplay at 10:06 to bring the Storm back to a 2 goal lead. Toffoli opened the second period scoring on the powerplay, unassisted. Hunter Garlent answered back to bring the Storm lead back to two goals. Garlent opened the third period scoring with his 10th of the year from Stephen Gaskin and Scott Kosmachuk at 11:05. Ottawa would score two more goals in the third period, but it would not be enough to beat the visiting Guelph Storm. Kosmachuk and Garlent earned first and second star honors, respectively.
The Storm were in Belleville Saturday night to take on the Bulls. The first period was scoreless. Jason Dickinson opened the scoring in the second period at 1:39, unassisted. Belleville would score three unanswered goals, two coming on the powerplay, in the third period to win the game 3-1. Goaltender Garret Sparks earned the third star of the game with 34 saves on 37 shots.
The Storm finished up their road trip in Kingston against the Frontenacs. Patrick Watling opened the scoring at 3:58 of the first period with a pass from Tyler Bertuzzi. The home side answered back at 9:18 with a goal from Billy Jenkins. Matt Finn scored late in the period to allow the Storm to take a 2-1 lead to the dressing room. Kingston dominated the scoreboard in the second period, putting 4 goals on the board. Scott Kosmachuk scored in the second, notching his 24th goal of the season. Two penalty shots were awarded in the game, one to Cody McNaughton for the Storm and one to Michael Moffat for the Frontenacs. The visitors would be scoreless in the third period, but the home team would knock in an empty net goal and win the game 6-3.
Storm Forecast
The Guelph Storm return home this Friday night to host the Sarnia Sting at 7:30. They will travel to Plymouth on Saturday to face off against the Whalers, and return home for a Monday Afternoon game on Family Day. The puck drops at 2:00pm on Monday.

These jerseys were worn on January 29th by the Guelph Storm to celebrate RBC Play Hockey day. The online auction raised approximately $4600.00 for the Guelph Giants Special Needs Hockey Club.
GUELPH GIANTS HOCKEY... a team composed of intellectually disabled athletes and are entering our 6th season. Giants' players are given the opportunity to play and be a part of a hockey team regardless of gender or ability to skate. This team endeavors to give a sense of community involvement to persons who in the past only been able to watch hockey from the sidelines.

Carstar Collision of the Month
Each week during the 2011-12 season, the Guelph Storm will name a Collision of the Game. Congratulations to Tyler Bertuzzi who won the hit of the month for December.
At the end of each month, fans will get the opportunity to vote for the CARSTAR Collision of the Month and eventually the CARSTAR Collision of the Year.
Voting is now open for the CARSTAR Collision of the month for January. Watch the video and decide who you think should win the CARSTAR Collision of the Month.
Coach4Food Practices Underway!
The Guelph Storm is pleased to announce that the Coach4Food practices are underway! The third Coach4Food practice was held this past Thursday February 9th, when the Guelph Jr. Storm Minor Peewee A team took to the ice with Head Coach Scott Walker, Assistant Coach Chris Hajt and Storm players Brock McGinn and Keegan Calder . The Guelph Jr. Storm Minor Peewee A team raised the most food during this program, collecting 4,341.13 pounds of food.
All practices will be held at the Sleeman Centre between 4:30 and 5:20. These practices are open to the public, and fans are encouraged to come out and watch!

In its first year running in Guelph, there was an overwhelming response from the teams that took part as over 11,500 pounds of food was collected.
Champions for Education School Visits:
Throughout the season, Storm players like to visit local elementary schools to present the Champions for Education program. They present the Fun Fit program which focuses on healthy active living, and why it is important as an athlete and a student. Players also present the Read to Succeed program to primary students and reinforce the concept of literacy, school, community, respect, excellence and anti-bullying.
