RailCats to Hold Tryout at Cumberland March 17

GARY, Ind. - The Gary SouthShore RailCats and Manager Greg Tagert are returning to Tennessee for their early spring tryout camp on Saturday, March 17 at the home of two-time NAIA National Champions, Cumberland University in Lebanon, Tenn. This season the RailCats will be joined at Cumberland by the expansion Schaumburg Boomers and Manager Jamie Bennett, as both clubs will be searching for talent.

This will be an open tryout and any player age 18 and up who is not under contract or currently playing collegiately is welcome to attend. Players should wear proper baseball attire and will need to provide their own equipment, including wood bats and catchers gear.

Position players will report at 10 a.m. Pitchers will report at 11:30 a.m.

Lebanon is located 30 miles south of Nashville. Players are strongly encouraged to pre-register and should contact either Greg Tagert at gtagert@railcatsbaseball.com or Jamie Bennett at jbennett@boomersbaseball.com for details. The cost of the tryout is $50. The alternate date in case of rain is Sunday, March 18.

The RailCats will open the 2012 season on May 17, with the Home Opener on May 25 at 7:10 p.m. against the Wichita Wingnuts at U.S. Steel Yard.
