Portland Winterhawks News Release

Hawks Happenings On The Ice:

The Winterhawks return to home ice at the Coliseum tomorrow night when they take on the Everett Silvertips at 7 p.m. The Hawks will be looking to extend their team-record winning home winning streak to 18 games. Portland still has a long way to go before approaching the league record for consecutive wins at home, as that mark is 29 games, set by the Kamloops Blazers in the 1993-94 season.

Ty Rattie continues to lead the WHL with 42 goals, and his 81 points ties him for top spot in the league with Regina's Jordan Weal. He's looking to become the first Winterhawk in a decade to finish among the league leaders in scoring. No Winterhawk has finished among the league's top-five scorers since Josef Balej's fifth-place showing with 92 points in the 2001-02 season, and the last Winterhawk to lead the league in scoring was Todd Robinson in the 1996-97 season with 134 points.

Rattie's 81 points is a new career-high, surpassing last year's 79 points. He's one of several Hawks players who, with 25 games still to play this season, have already established new career-highs in scoring. The other players include Derrick Pouliot (34 points this season, 30 last season), Taylor Peters (23 points this season, 19 last season), Tyler Wotherspoon (17 points this season, 12 last season) and Josh Hanson (nine points this season, three last season). With 43 points, Joe Morrow is just six points behind last year's career-high of 49, while Brendan Leipsic's 28 points is just five behind last season's 33.
