Dubuque Fighting Saints News Release

DUBUQUE, Iowa - The Fighting Saints announced today that the team has traded forward Kenny Matheson to the Brockville (Ontario) Braves of the Central Canada Hockey League. In exchange, the Fighting Saints received monetary compensation from Brockville.

Matheson, whose brother Michael is a Fighting Saints defenseman, will assume a more offensively focused role in Brockville, where he scored 23 goals and 53 points for the Braves last season. Fighting Saints Head Coach Jim Montgomery is hopeful that Matheson can play a significant role in a successful end to the season for Brockville.

"Kenny Matheson is a terrific young man who represented the Fighting Saints with class on and off the ice," he said. "This is an opportunity for Kenny to play more minutes and play a major role in winning a championship with Brockville, and we wish him all the success in the world."

The Fighting Saints return to the ice on Friday for the final game of a six-game homestand. The rival Cedar Rapids RoughRiders will make the trip to the Key City, with the puck scheduled to drop at 7:35 p.m.
