Indiana Ice News Release
INDIANAPOLIS-The Indiana Ice announced today that forward Sean Kuraly and goaltender Jon Gillies have been named the USHL's Offensive Player of the Week and Goaltender of the Week respectively.
Kuraly earned his first Offensive Player of the Week honors after the San Jose Sharks draft pick tallied four points (3G, A), including the overtime game-winning goal against Muskegon on Wednesday and the game-winner against Youngstown on Friday. He has scored eight goals in the past seven games while riding a five-game goal streak. Kuraly, a Miami University commit, is tied for second in the league in goals (18) and tied for fifth in points.
Gillies was honored for the second time in three weeks after a stellar performance in net. The Northeastern University commit compiled a 1.30 GAA and a .949 save percentage in three consecutive wins last week. Saturday night's shutout of the Youngstown Phantoms set a new Ice franchise record for career shutouts (5). In his second USHL season, Gillies currently leads all netminders in wins (16), saves (700), SV% (.926) and is third in GAA (2.32).
Kuraly, Gillies and the rest of their Ice teammates are in Waterloo on Friday before returning to the Pepsi Coliseum on Saturday for Ivy Tech Night against Youngstown. The first 500 fans at the door will receive a free drawstring backpack courtesy of Ivy Tech.
Tickets for this weekend's home game start as low as $10 and there is a $2 discount for children 10 and under and seniors 62 and over. Tickets can be purchased through Ticketmaster by calling 1-800-745-3000, online at ticketmaster.com or by visiting select Wal-Mart and Simon Mall locations and the Pepsi Coliseum and Bankers Life Fieldhouse box offices.
