Red Claws Topple Erie, 106-99, in See-Saw Battle

PORTLAND, ME - Paul Harris just missed the second triple-double in Red Claws history (30 pts,16 rebounds, 7 assists) in just his second game this season as the Maine Red Claws (3-5) toppled the Erie BayHawks (4-7) tonight at the Portland Exposition Building, 106-99. It was a see-saw affair that never saw the point spread more than 7 points with 11 ties and 8 lead changes.

Paul Harris was the story of the game as the 6-5 guard out of Syracuse narrowly missed a triple-double. Harris was officially activated on December 15 after missing the early part of the season due to the premature birth of his third son. Still looking to regain his game form, Harris nonetheless lit up the scoreboard, delighting the home crowd.

The Red Claw's starters scored 92 of the 106 points. Dominic Calegari recorded a double-double with 13 points and 10 rebounds while Courtney Pigram finished with 20 and added 5 assists. Justin Brownlee scored 19, while Tyc Snow added 10 of his own to round out the five Red Claws scorers in double digits.

The Bayhawks had six players in double figures. Kyle Spain and Tirrell Baines led Erie with 19 apiece. Chaz McCrommon and Mike Gerrity played big rolls off the bench with a combined 26 points and 17 rebounds. Leron Stokes finished with 14, and B.J. Jenkins rounded out the Bayhawks scorers with 11.

The Red Claws will be idle until Saturday, December 23 when they host the Iowa Energy in the first of a two-game home set. The game will mark the 2nd Annual WinterKids Hat & Mitten drive, and fans are encouraged to donate new and gently used hats, mittens, gloves and scarves. WinterKids encourages Maine kids to be active and get outside to enjoy winter activities. Maine and Iowa will complete the set on Saturday, December 24 with a 1 PM Christmas Eve contest. All fans purchasing two or more tickets to either game will receive a free Red Claws mini ball. The Red Claws will hold a full-team autograph signing session on the court following each game.

The BayHawks will also return to action on December 23 when they host the Tulsa 66ers.The team will then enjoy a brief break over the holidays before hosting the Fort Wayne Mad Ants on December 28 and the LA D-Fenders on December 29.
