Screaming Eagles Sign Murphy, Add Two More Players for Weekend Games

Sydney-The Cape Breton Screaming Eagles have added three players for their upcoming home games this weekend against Saint John and Halifax.

Forward Cole Murphy will be added to the Screaming Eagles full-time roster beginning on Friday against the top-rated Saint John Sea Dogs.

The Cole Harbour, N.S. native was the Screaming Eagles 4th round selection, 57th overall in last June's QMJHL midget draft. Murphy, was fifth in Nova Scotia Major Midget League scoring with 11 goals and 22 assists to go along with 40 penalty minutes in 24 games for the Dartmouth Ice Dawgs. He has already appeared in one game for the Screaming Eagles on November 24th against the Halifax Mooseheads.

Defensemen John-Michael Walsh and Billy Hartley will also join the Screaming Eagles this weekend.

Walsh,17, is a native of Westmount, NS and was the Screaming Eagles 12th round selection, 207th overall, in this June's midget draft. He has spent most of this season with the Pictou County Weeks Crushers of the Maritime Junior `A' Hockey League. In 22 games with the Crushers, Walsh has one goal and six assists. Walsh has also played four games with the Screaming Eagles with a +1 rating and two penalty minutes.

Hartley an off-season free agent from Dartmouth, NS has been playing this season with the Yarmouth Mariners of the Nova Scotia Junior `A' Hockey League after spending last year with the Dartmouth Ice Dawgs of the Nova Scotia Major Midget Hockey League.

In 31 games with Yarmouth, the 17 year-old has three goals and five assists along with 22 penalty minutes.

In related news, The Screaming Eagles have signed 17 year-old forward Avery Clarke. The 6'4", 200 lb. forward is the leading scorer in the Nova Scotia Major Midget League with 24 goals and 18 assists in 26 games for the South Shore Canadian Tire Mustangs.
