Energy Dominate Paint in 115-92 Victory Over Sioux Falls

DES MOINES, IA Dec 9, 2011- The 2011 NBA D-League Champion Iowa Energy scored a team record 72 points in the paint on their way to a 115-92 victory over Sioux Falls Friday night in Des Moines.

Iowa jumped out to a 31-24 lead at the end of the 1st quarter and opened the 2nd quarter on a 9-1 run to extend their lead to 15 points. The Energy increased the lead to 61-42 at the half, as recent signee Russell Carter led the way with nine points.

The Energy extended the lead to as much as 32 points in the 2nd half before coasting to the victory. In addition to outscoring Sioux Falls by 44 points in the paint, the Energy outrebounded the SkyForce 51 to 32 on the night. The Energy were led by Anthony Simpson's 12 rebounds while four other Iowa players registered six or more rebounds.

Seven of the nine Energy players to dress scored in double digits, with Andrew Drevo (21) and Jake Anderson (17) leading the way. Point guard Brandon Ewing registered a double-double with 11 points and 10 rebounds for the home team. The win moves Iowa to 4-3 on the season while Sioux Falls drops to 1-4 on the year.

Iowa shot 60.5% from the field on the night, while holding the Skyforce to 38.4%.

Sioux Falls was led by Bill McShepard's 20 point, 13 rebound effort.

The Energy host Sioux Falls again tomorrow at 7pm. Saturday's game will feature $1 hot dogs for all fans.
