Red Claws Pick up Big Win Over Fort Wayne

PORTLAND, ME - The Maine Red Claws (1-3) were in action tonight against the Fort Wayne Mad Ants (2-1) at the Portland Exposition Building, picking up their first win of the season, 99-91. Kenny Hayes led all scorers with 32 points, a career-high for the second-year guard.

Justin Brownlee provided a great spark off the bench scoring a quick 5 points and finishing the game with a solid double-double with 13 points and 10 rebounds while Chris Wright picked up his third double-double of the season with 12 points and13 rebounds. Durrell Summers rounded out the Red Claws in double figures with 11 points.

The Red Claws finished the game victorious with a final score of 99-91. Brownlee played an enormous roll within the last minute with a huge block and a very powerful put back dunk. Kenny Hayes sealed the win with two foul shots with 23.6 second left.

Corey Allmond led the Mad Ants with 26 points, while Walker Russell had 17. Former Red Claw Darnell Lazare and Marvin Phillips both finished with double-doubles; Lazare had 20 points and 11 rebounds while Phillips finished with 11 points and 11 rebounds.

The Red Claws will look to pick up their first win of the season over their biggest rival, the Springfield Armor, when they travel to Massachusetts to take on the team that has felled them twice this season. The Mad Ants will also hit the road, traveling to Ohio to face on the league's newest entry, the Canton Charge, on Wednesday.
