Saint John Sea Dogs News Release
SAINT JOHN - Charles Roussel scored the overtime winner as the Saint John Sea Dogs took a 2-1 decision over the Moncton Wildcats Tuesday.
Stephen Anderson had the other Saint John goal as the Sea Dogs remained first overall in the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League with a 24-7-0-1 record.
Zack Phillips picked up two assists and now has the first 20-game points streak in team history - the longest streak in the league this season. Tomas Jurco also had two assists and Mathieu Corbeil made 30 saves for the win.
Olivier D'Aoust had the Moncton goal before being ejected for checking from behind. Roman Will made 28 saves in the loss as the Wildcats fell to 16-12-2-0.
Saint John earned two points in the Brunswick News Rivalry Cup for the overtime win, while the host Wildcats received one point for the overtime loss and lead the competition 4-3 after two games.

Anderson opened the scoring at 13:33 of the first on a faceoff play to Will's right. Phillips won the draw back to left-winger Jurco, who fired a shot from near the top of the circle that rebounded to Anderson. The 17-year-old rookie converted for his fourth of the season.
D'Aoust equalized at 13:30 of the second, as Brandon Shea's shot from the right-wing circle was blocked in front and fell to D'Aoust on the doorstep. He surprised Corbeil with a quick shot to make it 1-1.
The Sea Dogs got a five-minute man advantage at 2:20 of the third period when D'Aoust was called for checking Jason Seed from behind in the corner to Corbeil's left. Ian Saab dropped the gloves to stick up for his fallen teammate, but was unable to land any punches as D'Aoust grabbed him and wrestled him to the ground before being escorted off the ice.
Moncton actually got the best chance of the power play, however, as Corbeil had to sprawl to his left to rob Allain Saulnier with the glove. As the Wildcats completed the penalty kill they received a loud ovation from the Coliseum fans.
Corbeil was sharp again, kicking away another Saulnier chance off a faceoff to his left with just over six minutes to go to preserve the 1-1 score.
Roussel ended the affair at 3:38 of overtime, walking out from behind the net and jamming in a backhander to give the Dogs the 2-1 margin of victory. The assists went to Phillips and Jurco.
The Dogs are back at home Saturday against the Shawinigan Cataractes (7 p.m.) and Sunday against the Chicoutimi Sagueneens (3 p.m.) Tickets are available at the Harbour Station box office, by calling 506-657-1234 or online at www.tickets.harbourstation.ca.
