Worcester Sharks News Release
WORCESTER, MA - Worcester Sharks President Michael A. Mudd has announced that the Worcester Sharks will reimburse New England Patriots Tight End Rob Gronkowski $7,500 to spike a ceremonial puck before the Sharks game vs. the Providence Bruins on Friday, February 24th at the DCU Center in Worcester. Gronkowski agreed to the offer earlier today.
Patriots tight end Rob Gronkowski was fined $7,500 on November 18 by the NFL for his unsportsmanlike spike following his second touchdown grab win over the Jets on November 13. Gronkowski finished the game with eight catches for 113 yards and two touchdowns as the Patriots rolled, 37-16.
"The Sharks are really excited that Gronkowski took us up on our offer," said Mudd. "This is a win-win for everyone. Sharks fans are Patriots fans and I know that they will pack the house to root on Rob and the Sharks on February 24 at the DCU Center."
Rob Gronkowski spiked the football after a celebration of a touchdown vs. the Patriots biggest rival, the New York Jets. It will be only be fitting that Gronkowski will spike a puck before the Worcester Sharks host their biggest rival, the Providence Bruins on Friday, February 24th.
The Sharks will also be hosting "March of Dimes Night" and the 2nd annual Boy Scout sleep over during the game on the February 24th.
