Victoria Royals News Release
Victoria, BC - The Victoria Royals Hockey Club is proud to announce that to date the team has helped raised over $110,000 for local organizations and charitable causes through a variety of promotions and initiatives.
The Royals' fundraising efforts have generated over $30,000 in support of charitable efforts such as KidSport, Tour De Rock and Free the Children. These associations work tirelessly to give children opportunities to play sport, support the fight against cancer and empower children through education.
In addition to monetary contributions, the Victoria Royals, in conjunction with the Shields Harney Law Firm, have helped to generate 749 lbs. of food donations, or a pound of food for every save made by a Royals' goaltender, to the Mustard Seed Food Bank through the team's 'Stop Hunger' Campaign.
To date, more than $71,000 has been raised through 50/50 and Chuck-A-Puck sales at Royals' home games, with proceeds going towards local minor sports organizations such as the Westshore Rebels Football Team and assorted minor hockey associations in the community.
Marty the Marmot and his tireless efforts in the community have helped generate over $11,000 for a variety of charitable causes and organizations. The Victoria Royals have also donated over $500 from sales of Mini Marty stuffed animals in the past year to the Vancouver Island Marmot Recovery Foundation.

Friday sees the Royals visit the Kamloops Blazers, with puck drop set for 7:00 p.m. Victoria then takes on the Kelowna Rockets the following night, with the action set to start at 7:05 p.m. The Royals' next home game is Tuesday, November 29th when the Kamloops Blazers visit the Save-On-Foods Memorial Centre for a 7:05 p.m. start.
