Moncton Wildcats News Release
Coming off a character win last Sunday at home the Wildcats went on the road to Halifax Friday night. It was DND appreciation night and the Mooseheads had special NAVY jerseys on. The Wildcats played the Mooseheads tight all game long taking it to overtime. James Melindy scored the OT winner with a nice redirection on a pass from Marek Hrivik. Alex Saulnier had the other Wildcat goal with a textbook play on the power play. Attendance at the game was 8010 and shots were 24-20 in favor of the Cats.
This evening the team was in Bathurst for a 4PM start against the Titan. The Wildcats came out hard with an early 2-0 lead. The Titan stayed in it tying it up late in the third on a goal from Matthew Bissonnette forcing the game to overtime. With no goals in the overtime period the game went into a shootout. Roman Will stopped all three attempts by the Titan coming from Sébastien Trudeau, Zach O'Brien and Matthew Bissonnette. Alex and Allain Saulnier were stopped by Titan goalie Robert Steeves, however, Brandon Gormley scored to win the game! Gormley was also named captain of the QMJHL Subway Super Series team today. Final score was 4-3, attendance at tonight's game was 1307 and shots were heavily in favor of the Wildcats 40-27.
The Wildcats are back in action at home this Saturday, November 12th against the Baie-Comeau Drakkar at 7PM.
