Elmira Jackals News Release
The Elmira Jackals announced on Monday that they have added four players to their roster who recently attended training camp with their AHL affiliate, the Binghamton Senators. The Jackals have received goaltender Brian Stewart on assignment from the B-Sens, have signed forward Kyle Reeds to a standard player contract, have signed defenseman Donnie Harris to a tryout agreement, and have added defenseman Mike Devin to their training camp roster.
Stewart, 6'4", 194-pound second-year pro had a standout rookie season in 2010-2011, leading all ECHL goaltenders with a .927 save percentage and checking in second with a 2.25 goals-against average in 29 games while posting a 20-6-0 record with the Bakersfield Condors and Greenville Road Warriors. He was named to the ECHL All-Rookie Team and was named the ECHL's Rookie of the Month for March while with the Condors. Stewart, who was under contract last season with AHL Adirondack, was 4-5-0 with a .891 save percentage and a 3.05 goals-against average with the Phantoms.
A Burnaby, British Columbia native, Stewart played collegiately at Northern Michigan University (NCAA, D-I) from 2006-2010, participating in 117 games over four years and posting a career .921 save percentage and a 2.53 goals-against average with a record of 50-42-14. He was named the CCHA's Goaltender of the Week five times.
Reeds, a 5'11", 190-pound rookie skated the last four seasons at Dartmouth College (NCAA, D-I), scoring 18 goals and adding 34 assists for 52 career points. A St. Louis, Mo. product, Reeds tied for fourth in points with 45 (23g-22a) on the 2006-2007 Waterloo Black Hawks (USHL), a team that won the league's Anderson Cup as its regular season champion. He is the son of Mark Reeds, an assistant coach for the Jackals' NHL affiliate, the Ottawa Senators.
Harris, a 6-3", 205-pound first-year blue liner spent the last two seasons with the AJHL's Bonnyville Pontiacs, scoring four goals and contributing 30 assists for 34 points from 2009-2011. He notched 149 penalty minutes over his two years with the Pontiacs. Harris hails from Fort Ashby, W.V.
Devin, who spent the last four years at nearby Cornell University (NCAA, D-I), signed a standard player contract with the Jackals during the offseason.
