Thunder Announces 27 Man Roster to Open Training Camp

STOCKTON, Calif. - The Stockton Thunder, proud ECHL affiliate of the Edmonton Oilers and San Jose Sharks of the National Hockey League, announced their 2011-12 preseason training camp is opening with 24 skaters and three goaltenders.

The Thunder training camp currently consists of seven returning players from last year's team that finished tied for first place in the Pacific Division with the Bakersfield Condors and notched 86 points which tied a club record.

There are four players signed by the Thunder, on the roster, who have attended or are currently attending training camps in the American Hockey League:

Cameron Brodie (Abbotsford Heat)

Dan Ringwald (Oklahoma City Barons)

Bretton Cameron (St. John's Ice Caps)

Tyler Shelast (Oklahoma City Barons)

Training camp skating sessions at Oak Park Ice Arena in Stockton are open to the public. A complete training camp schedule is listed below. Oak Park Ice Arena is located at 3545 Alvarado Avenue.

All media wishing to cover practice sessions are strongly encouraged to RSVP with the Thunder media relations department in advance by emailing mbenton@stocktonthunder.com. As per club media policy, the training room and restrooms inside the team dressing room are strictly off-limits at all times. Players receiving medical treatment in training room during the access period will be available to the media following treatment.

OPENING NIGHT AND TICKET INFORMATION

Opening Night is Friday, Oct. 14, when the Thunder opens the 2011-12 regular season at home against the Colorado Eagles, starting at 7:30 p.m. at Stockton Arena. The game will be a historic ECHL event to welcome in the Eagles, who will play in their inaugural game after spending the previous eight seasons in the Central Hockey League.
