Humber and Pierzynski Join Knights on Rehab Assignments

FORT MILL, S.C. - Chicago White Sox right handed pitcher Phillip Humber and White Sox catcher A.J. Pierzynski have joined the Charlotte Knights on major league rehab assignments. Both players are expected to start for Charlotte tonight at Norfolk.

Humber has pitched in 23 games for the White Sox with 21 starts earning an 8-8 record, 3.63 ERA (53 ER/131.1 IP), 86 strikeouts and 33 walks. Opponents are hitting just .239 off Humber, which is the best amongst White Sox starting pitchers. Humber, 28, was placed on the White Sox disabled list on August 19th with a facial contusion.

Pierzynski has hit .296 (110-371) with six home runs and 39 RBI for the White Sox this season. The 14-year major league veteran is a two-time American League All-Star (2002, 2006) and is the White Sox all-time leader among catchers with a .996 fielding percentage. Pierzynski, 34, was placed on the White Sox disabled list on August 16th (retroactive to August 13th) with a fractured left wrist.
